James Graha, author of Whistler Rhymes
Welcome to the Whistler Rhymes website Whistler Rhymes is a collection of modern poetry reflecting life and play in Whistler, in the Canadian Rockies by James Graham.

Whistler Rhymes came out of days in heaven - almost literally, for many were on Seventh Heaven, looking across the slopes of Black Combe, or swaying down the Dave Murray on Whistler Mountain, British Columbia. It was such an exultant joy, I just had to find a way to catch the moment, hold on to it, express it, encapsulate it in some way I could take with me where ever I was to go.
A lifetime in television gave me a script-writing style better suited to hitting shots changes on film but could I adapt it to set down my feelings about ski-ing, or capture the emotions of the many faces of British Columbia, the wilderness, the waters, the city streets of Vancouver? Are we talking poetry here, with its imagery of literary forms and expression? No, to touch the hearts or minds of skiers, relaxing at the end of the day, enough that I made the words rhyme, unpretentiously but as honestly and accurately as I could. So Whistler Rhymes was born.
It came about in a coffee bar, watching kids in beanies talking away, their snowboards propped in the rack outside. On the wall behind, a dozen types of coffee, each to suit your moods. So why not another board, with a dozen poems to achieve the same thing?
Whistler Rhymes sets out tomake poetry as easy to take as hot coffee. Glance at the list, run your finger down what's offereed and they'll call you when it's ready.
