James Graham
Jim Graham and his wife, Annie, live much of their time by the shores of Green Lake in Whistler. The scene up the lake towards Mount Currie has inspired a number of poems.  Others from the woods around, or from the high slopes of Black Combe and Whistler Mountains.  Beyond that, Vancouver, the Okenagan or other parts of BC have given rise to thoughts about a beautiful Province that could only come out in poetry.  Rich among these sources has been Lake Anderson, beyond Pemberton, where the only way up the lake is by boat from D'Arcy.  Years ago, CN would halt at McGillivray, by the tumultous falls and their sense of peace.

ames Graham was made OBE by the Queen for his services to broadcasting and was presented with the Beffroi d'Or, the Golden Belfry, by the French Prime Minister for helping develop co-operation between European broadcasters. He became a Recipient of the European Flag of Honour for his work on inter-regional co-operation in the European Union. A lifetime's involvement led to his appointment as President of the Prix Italia, the world's oldest broadcasting festival, after which he was appointed the first honorary Life President. He has a number of broadcasting awards, including a personal award from the Royal Television Society, of which he is a Fellow. In North America, he is a Council Member of the International Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, New York, which presents the International Emmy Awards.

He holds an Hon Doctorate at the University of Northumbria and is an Hon Fellow of the University of Central Lancashire. He chaired the Ambassadors' Session at UN World Food Day, in Rome. He specialised in documentaries on philosophy and religion, encouraging series on science shot in Europe and California.

'I love Whistler', he says, 'and all the lasting friendships I've made there.  Maybe they'll accept these poems as my way of expressing just that feeling'.
